2014 OSIA Fall Conference
The education committee and the OSIA Board would like to thank everyone who participated in “The Tale of Two Cities” OSIA Fall Conference. We got off to a late start but worked diligently to bring topics and speakers relevant with the issues we’re dealing with in Workers Comp today. Hopefully you found some answers to your questions. Each session gave the attendees different viewpoints, updates on the Legislature, how to handle claims, views from our own members on measuring the value of their self-insured program and how other states handle the administrative system. All the speakers did an excellent job presenting and were entertaining too. The conference was well attended by members and many non-members, which hopefully they can see the value of being a member of OSIA!
The Exhibit Hall had 34 vendors this year, over 180 people were in attendance, and the survey brought in wonderful comments. The hotel venue and food was rated good, the education was excellent but some would like breakout sessions on specific topics, and the vendor area was fantastic as usual! Over all, the conference was a success with much of that due to our membership. Our Vendor support through sponsorships of the golf tournament, social hour, breakfast, breaks, the ads and attendance make the setting of the conference a hit and strengthens the OSIA and for that we are grateful. Just a reminder to our self-insured members, that attending the education and all the networking opportunities helps you in your daily business. Your board is already in the planning phase for next year and any topics and ideas you may have and would like OSIA to work on please let us know. AND if you are interested in being involved in planning next year’s program please give Wendy Gerdes a call. We need to hear from you to help all of the membership.
Please check your email for the upcoming Breakfast Meeting with Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Doak. The 2015 OSIA Fall Conference will be Friday October 16th at the Embassy Suites in Norman. Thank you all for being a part of this wonderful association!
